Welcome

Commence your sensory journey at Deerness Distillery.

Visit our self-built artisan distillery in the East of the beautiful Orkney mainland.  Sample for yourself our multi-award winning range of spirits and coffee liqueur, browse our carefully curated gift shop and warm up with a take-away tea or coffee.

There is level access from the main entrance to:

  • Retail area
  • Distillery toilet
  • Distillery Shop

Some staff have disability awareness training.

There is at least 1 public toilet for disabled visitors.

Travel by Public Transport

Bus

You can get to Deerness Distillery by bus.

  • Bus No 3 from Kirkwall Bus Station takes you to the nearest bus stop which is ‘Lighthouse Corner, Deerness’. The bus stop is 0.5 miles / 0.8 km from Deerness Distillery.
  • There is a regular bus service three times a day on Mondays through to Thursdays. Four buses on a Friday and Saturday and no buses on a Sunday. Download Stagecoach App for more details.

Travel by Taxi

  • You can get a taxi with Orkney Cabs by calling 01856 875000. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
  • You can get a taxi with Orkney Taxis by calling 01856 875511. The taxi company has a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Parking

  • We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
  • There is a drop-off point at the main entrance. The drop-off point does not have a dropped kerb.
  • From the car park to the entrance, there is level access. The path is sloped.
  • The route is 1800mm wide, or more.

Distillery Toilet

  • There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
  • From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access. The route is 850mm wide, or more.
  • The toilet door is 850mm wide.
  • The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left.
  • There is 300mm at the side of the toilet. There is 1540mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 500mm high. The toilets have handrails.
  • Fully accessible toilet with emergency pull cord.
