Our Edition Gins
Welcome to our special page all about our Edition Gins! We want to share with you the journey behind our special Edition Gins and the all-important botanicals in them.
How it all began...
It was always our aspiration to grow as many of our botanicals as possible to reduce our carbon footprint and increase our sustainability.  Along with the botanicals needed for our current gins, we experimented with growing other herbs, vegetables and fruits.  The seed was sown and the idea of a special edition annual gin produced only from botanicals grown in our polytunnel was born (apart from juniper as it doesn’t grow well here in Orkney!).
The next step...
The first “Edition Gin” was produced in 2023 and we had a great time picking a variety of botanicals and experimenting with distilling micro batch gins to find the perfect recipe.  Once decided, Adelle and Lianne distilled the gin under the careful guidance of master distiller, Stuart.
The beautiful label...
Keeping as much as possible handcrafted and produced in Orkney is important to us and adds to the originality and provenance of each year’s Edition Gin.  We were lucky to have had a talented artist, Lianne, as part of our team at the distillery and she designed and drew the beautiful label. Once the labels had been printed here in Orkney, they were hand applied to each bottle and a unique brass tag added.  Each tag details the bottle number and of course these were made in Orkney too, by the talented Findlay Tulloch (interesting fact – he makes violin parts too!).
The botanicals...
Each year will be different, as each year our polytunnel delights and frustrates us with our growing efforts.
Edition Gin 2025

The 2025 Edition is here!

This small-batch gin captures the essence of our landscape: herbaceous, aromatic, and gently floral, with a citrus brightness carried on the breeze.

Meticulously distilled to preserve the character of each botanical, the 2025 Edition is both refined and expressive, offering a truly local flavour that can only come from our coastal home.

Created, as always, using botanicals grown in our own polytunnel where the plants are lovingly cared for by Alison.  Our Distillery Lead, Shane, worked with Alison to select the botanicals for this year’s Edition and then with Master Distiller, Stuart, to refine the blend.

Hurry—when it’s gone, it’s gone!

The 2024 Edition

The 2024 Edition Gin delivers a fresh, vibrant twist on a traditional London Dry Gin.  Our botanicals for this year were pineapple (yes – grown in Orkney!), sage, lime leaf, mandarin, lemon and French tarragon.

The 2023 Edition Gin is carefully curated with the following botanicals:  lemon balm, tomato leaf, lime leaf, basil, French tarragon (our signature base herb), and juniper of course.

This blend is classically juniper led with undertones of basial and lemon balm and leaves a clean, savoury taste on the palette.
