The Royal Highland Show – We’re back!!
So, although I like to write my blog and have it posted for the beginning of the month, that didn’t quite happen in June! But as they say – “Better late than never!” Shows and exhibitions are a great way of getting your brand known across the country and this year we are delighted to be back attending shows and meeting people, new and old faces. Although we know well in advance what we are attending the shows have a habit of creeping up on us and they take a phenomenal amount of organisation for staff and stock and to ensure that the stand looks fab 😊. Hence, my lateness for the June blog post!!
I thought this month I would let you know what we have been up to off the Island and our adventures at the June shows….here goes.
First up was the ‘Sir Jackie Stewart Classic Show’ as Thirlestane Castle, Lauder (www.sirjackiestewartclassic.com) Georgie one of our fabulous staff attended for us and from the sounds of it had a great time. Folk were pleased to see and taste a new gin or two and there was a great atmosphere. Stuart did keep saying that he needs to go next year, as a classic car lover, this event would have been right up his street!
Next up was the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh Home | Royal Highland Show | Royal Highland Show. In it’s 100th year in 2022, we have attended this show since we launched back in 2017. A baptism of fire that year, we attended the show as traders and as part of the Orkney stand and thought it would be a great idea to camp! We completely underestimated how tiring the RHS would be, chatting to people all day and telling our unique story. It probably didn’t help that here was no hot water in the showers one day either!! This year was our fourth year attending (missing two due to Covid ☹) and we are dab hands at it now. Our two eldest children were old enough to accompany us and although they couldn’t help us on the stand they were able to explore the showgrounds, watch lots of competitions and spend our money on food and drink!! Olivia having her own flock of sheep spent a lot of time watching the sheep showing and we all enjoyed the shearing competition. Jasmin was delighted to be able to see so many horses and watch them. Photos all courtesy of Jasmin our eldest daughter 😊
And as I write this I’m sitting in the car at ‘The Scottish Game Fair’! (www.scottishfair.com) Located at Scone Palace, Perth, we have never attended this show before. There’s a relaxed vibe in the air as everyone is setting up their stands and it’s always nice on days like this to get a chat and meet other traders, which being based up in Orkney we don’t often get a chance to do. We had another great show and the weather was great making it a very busy show! If you didn’t get the chance to visit this year its definitely a show I would recommend visiting 😊
Bye for now,
